Connecting with other blogs

I was able to make connections with my classmate's books that they read. Many of the books had similarities. I found that the character in the book I read, Hazel Grace from The Fault In Our Stars had some of the same thoughts and feelings as other characters in different books. Hazel was sent to support group for her depression, but she felt like she did not belong there. I read Jenny's blog http://jenneng.blogspot.ca/2013/11/little-brother-orange-is-new-black.html#comment-form about the book Little Brother; I was able to make a connection because the character in the story, Marcus, was sent to jail for a crime that he didn't commit. When you are in jail, you are monitored so that you don't escape. Hazel Grace was in a support group, in and out of the hospital, and even at home, she is monitored to make sure she is okay. Both characters were probably feeling trapped because Marcus had no choice but to be in jail, and Hazel Grace had to be stuck in the hospital when her cancer was getting worse. I also made a connection with Katie's blog http://katiem6331.blogspot.ca/ post about It's Kind of a Funny Story. Craig was able to control his depression and do something about it and get help. Like Hazel, he did not give up on his life. There are many reasons why the both of them could have felt like they should give up, but they both did not and continued to live their life. I also made a connection with Megan's blog http://mlseng.blogspot.ca/ about The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. Hazel and Augustus had a good relationship; they loved to spend time with each other, but there was something that came in the way of their relationship...cancer. Cancer was a huge obstacle that they had to face. In the book The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, Bruno and Shmuel had a strong bond as well but there was also something that came in the way of their relationship; the fence. They weren't actually able to play with one another, they were just able to meet at the fence and talk to one another.

The Similar Battles of Hazel and Talia

In the story "The Fault In Our Stars", the p rotagonist's name is Hazel Grace. She is a girl that was diagnosed with lung cancer. The video that I made a connection with was about a 13 year old girl named Talia Castellano. Talia battled with cancer for several years and eventually lost that battle this summer. I knew about Talia because she sued to be an inspiring girl that made makeup tutorial videos on Youtube. Since Hazel had cancer, I thought of Talia since she had cancer too. Hazel battled with her cancer also, just like Talia did.

On the left, I chose a picture of Talia Castellano. She was bald because of her cancer. You can see above the photo, it says Cover Girl. Ellen Degenres made her a Cover Girl after she was interviewed on the Ellen show. Her talent with makeup inspired many young females. The picture on the right shows a drawing of Hazel Grace. Hazel had an oxygen tube under her nose because her lungs weren't very capable of giving her enough oxygen. Her cancer gave her troubles with breathing.

Recently in class we have been learning how to properly present an effective oral presentation. All the skills and tips that we have learned to do will be helpful for many things. After some practise and courage, I will be able to give an awesome oral presentation by speaking loudly, making eye contact with the audience, appear relaxed, and get the audience involved so the presentation isn't boring. These skills will be effective if I want to be some kind of speaker when I'm older, or simply just for future presentations.

Transforming Into Something Else

If I could transform myself into anything, it would be a bird. I want to see what it would be like to fly and see the world from a different angle. On hot summer days, to cool off you could simply fly and the wind blowing against you would cool you off. Flying would be very useful for dangerous situations. Instead of having to run away for example, you could just quickly fly away.
